Works Bell RAPFIX GTC-R Steering Wheel Tilt-Up Pop-Up Flip-Up System
Choose options
Works Bell RAPFIX GTC-R has been developed for racing where fast driver changes are crucial to succeeding. It is much easier and less time-consuming to complete the driver-changing action by tilting up the steering wheel rather than attaching and detaching it with the steering quick release system. To meet the need, Works Bell has updated the RAPFIX GTC (which was previously designed for street use) to RAPFIX GTC-R (also known as GTC Racing) as a steering wheel tilt-up system for competition purposes.
The socket (steering wheel side component) and the plug (steering wheel rack side component) can both be tilted up by pulling the large lever, which was developed especially for pilots. Suspend and hold functions are provided for stopping at any angle and avoiding lever operation while tilting down. The RAPFIX series' ball locking system is used to achieve smooth hinge opening and closing as well as locking without any wobble. The rattle and wear issues have been resolved. It makes a significant contribution to the driver's precise steering wheel operation.
Works Bell RAPFIX GTC-R is designed specifically for racing vehicles. There are 6x50.8 mm PCD holes (M5 x P0.8 thread) to install the steering wheel and the same 6x50.8 mm PCD holes (M5 x P0.8 thread) to fit this system to the steering wheel hub (steering wheels with 3x50.8 mm PCD could be mounted). Works Bell RAPFIX 3-hole to 6-hole conversion adapter is required to attach RAPFIX GTC-R tilt-up system to a 6 hole hubs/steering wheels with a 70mm or 74mm (MOMO, Nardi etc.) bolt pattern.
Two electric points are configured as options to correspond to various electric functions. Furthermore, wiring is installed on the installation side of the steering wheel to provide convenience.
RAPFIX GTC-R's strength tests were carried out by NAPAC standards, which are the product standards for the Japanese aftermarket. The results of these tests showed that, while there was some permanent deformation in the bend test, it was still possible to tilt up afterwards, and the torsion test showed no problem at all under the specified load. To understand the limitation of tilting up, bending loads of 38 kg-m (372 N-m) were given; although it stretched significantly, it was not broken and could still be used. Furthermore, an internal test of 30,000 repetitions of tilt-up, and tilt-down (lock) operations confirmed that it can be operated 30,000 times without any parts being replaced (each part was lubricated during the test).
