Working Bell RAPFIX Racing is the ultimate type of competition quick-release hub.
With its distinctive ball lock system, RAPFIX for commercial sports steering wheels has already sold over 20,000 units and earned the name "Rapfix". Concerning that, RAPFIX Racing's lightweight and compact design was created especially for racing vehicles.
Works Bell RRAPFIX Racing quick release consists of a plug that welds straight to the steering column shaft, and a socket that attaches to the 3x50.8 PCD steering wheel.
Conforms to the requirements of the FIA.
Features
Pulling the sleeve releases the socket from the plug and frees the steel ball in the socket. The sleeve that has been pulled is held in place and does not need to be pulled again for insertion. The main advantage is that it can be inserted at any angle and automatically joins with the steering wheel (socket) when the angle of the steering wheel (socket) and the steering shaft (plug) are aligned, eliminating the annoyance of the pre-RAPFIX quick release, which requires the shaft to be precisely aligned. Steel balls have been significantly reduced in size. Because the steel ball always maintains pressure on the plug, the unique technology eliminates rattling and ensures secure steering force transmission. This rattle-free and the smooth connection remains effective even after some wear and tear on the product, which contributes significantly to the driver's severe steering wheel operation. RAPFIX Racing also employs a new "Cam Lock" mechanism to ensure that the plug and socket are fully bonded and that radial loads are locked in place for absolute racetrack reliability. This, along with the ball lock, ensures safety.
Specifications
Designed for use in racing vehicles. The sleeve is made of SUS420 liner for lightweight and high strength, and the plug is made of chrome molybdenum steel SCM435 for easy welding to the steering shaft. The socket is made of super duralumin and special plating for durability. A protection cap made of Delrin plastic is attached to the tip of the plug for hard use. The tip of the plug is not likely to damage the socket even if it is roughly inserted, and can be easily replaced if the protective cap is damaged.
Strength
The tests are carried out by the NAPAC standards, which are the Japanese aftermarket product standards.
The flexural and torsional tests demonstrated that, while a slight permanent deformation and increased rattling occurred at the specified load, it could still be attached and detached afterwards, and that it did not break but did not become impossible to steer even under heavy loads. The coupled plug and socket's capacity to release load in the event of a strong tensile force was also put to the test. The test was completed with the steering wheel's fastening screws breaking first and remaining intact at 3754 kg. (3.67 KN). After the test was finished, it was confirmed that the quick-release function could operate. The driver can withstand an impact of about 68G in the tensile direction because it is standardized at 55kg according to Japanese Industrial Standards.
