This short boss kit will allow you to mount any Works Bell RAPFIX quick release kit or 6x70mm bolt pattern steering wheel to the steering column on your Lotus Exige S2.

Fitment:
  • Lotus Exige S2 (2004-2011) Without Airbag / With Airbag

Works Bell steering wheel adapter enables you to mount a steering wheel or a quick release system on your Lotus using the original steering wheel base (hub) and clock spring.

With a simple 4-bolt fitment, this steering wheel boss kit attaches directly to the genuine Lotus steering wheel base (hub) that comes with the original factory wheel. The package includes resistor wiring to bypass the dash-mounted warning light that illuminates if the ECU detects a change in the airbag status.

This adapter contains all the parts you need to replace the original airbag steering wheel. Simply reuse the steering wheel base and clock spring.

Installation notes:

The base part of the steering wheel (the part fixed to the steering shaft) is used. The installation method and TOP position of the hub adapter differ between airbag and non-airbag versions. Please refer to the images below before starting the installation.

Non-Airbag Lotus

  • TOP position is marked by one (○) dot below the screw hole.
  • Use the original steering wheel bolts and screw them in place.
  • Use the original horn wiring.
  • Recommended tightening torque: 11.5 Nm.

Airbag Equipped Lotus

  • TOP position is marked by two (○○) dots below the screw hole.
  • Use the included bolts to attach the base part from the original steering wheel side to the hub adapter.
  • You will need to modify the OEM horn wiring using the included crimp terminals.
  • Recommended tightening torque: 13.5 Nm.

Works Bell short hub kit compensates for the RAPFIX's extra length by keeping the steering wheel from being too close to the driver. The short hub system allows the user to offset the steering wheel position away from the driver by anywhere between 20-30mm (depending on the hub used).

Works Bell has developed this exclusive short hub system designed for specific use with the Works Bell RAPFIX II and Works Bell RAPFIX GTC quick release systems. However, this short steering wheel adapter can also be used directly with aftermarket steering wheels for those looking for improved wheel placement and driving position.

Manufactured with superior quality materials, manufacturing process, and know-how for a premium quality product.

Works Bell boss kits are manufactured from either cast or billet aluminum. They are produced in conjunction with the strict quality assurance practices of ASEA (Autosports & Special Equipment Association) under NAPAC (Nippon Auto Parts Aftermarket Committee). These kits are designed to be extremely durable for sports/competition applications and to break away under severe impact, reducing potential harm to the driver.

Made in Japan.

Warning:

Incorrect installation may occur, especially on tapered tooth-type designs. If the item is not perfectly lined up or slippage occurs, the excess stress may cause it to crack under torque load. Please make sure to remove all grease from the steering shaft and set the boss kit to its most flush mounting position before applying torque. Please observe the tightening torque of 30 N-m (3 kg/m).

Before performing the installation, be sure to carefully check the shape of the back of the genuine steering wheel and the shape of the boss to be installed. Forcing the installation of incompatible parts may result in vehicle damage or serious accidents.

Since these are important safety components, if you choose to install them yourself, please do so at your own risk, ensuring the safety of the installation process as mentioned above. We strongly recommend having the installation done at a dealership, maintenance shop, or specialized workshop.
